3 MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE WHE SEARCHING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS ABROAD

Anybody CAN WIN a scholarship but not everybody WILL WIN a scholarship. Read that statement again! Studying and living in a foreign country is everyone’s dream. But how you go about this dream makes the difference. 

When seeking for scholarship abroad, here are three mistakes you must avoid.

1. Do not rely on traditional Google search

Many students strive for one popular scholarship opportunity when there are several hidden ones unclaimed. Some of this scholarships are not found on Google. Or rather, they are not popularly advertised. So relying solely on Google search is a bad idea if you really want to gain scholarship abroad.

You must have to spread your tentacles to different sources of information, attend webinars, research on other international students, ask questions etc. Do not rely on Google alone.

2. Do not use a travel agent

How best can I emphasis this? How do you think a travel agent can get you scholarship to study abroad? Like how? It’s like believing a footballer to sit still in a pitch when he's meant to score goal.

Travel agent cannot get you scholarship abroad because he has little or no interest in it. Why? When an agent gets you admission in a school, he is been paid a commission from the school fees you pay. So imagine if he secures a scholarship opportunity for you, where will his commission come from? You see! Your ambition is detrimental to his business. In other words, do not use an agent when seeking for scholarship abroad.

3. Your mindset is key!

Because we are encouraging you not to use traditional Google search and a travel agent when seeking for scholarship abroad, you need to develop the determined mindset willing to put in works and succeed.

Scrap off the mindset of “I-am-not-fit for a scholarship, I graduated with a low grade, I had long study-gap years, I-am-too-old for a scholarship” and so on and so forth. With these kind of mindsets, you will never look for scholarship opportunities and of course you’ll not get one.
