Setting SMART goals for 2021

As you plan for this New Year, your best bet is to develop S.M.A.R.T Goals.

Whether it is personal, family, business, or career goals, avoid the notion that good happens to those who wait. (That’s a lazy man’s excuse)

Don’t waste your time or money on wandering around aimlessly, be open to new ideas and opportunities. Strike the balance of open-mindedness and focus, and develop SMART goals

A SMART goal is one that’s Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely.

After all, the goal of “apply for scholarships or study abroad” is pretty vague.

Instead, get SMART.

The more detailed your smart goals are, the better your chances of achieving them.

So let’s get right into creating SMART goals.

S FOR SPECIFIC: What exactly am I trying to accomplish?

M FOR MEASURABLE: What metrics will I use to determine success? How do I know I am making progress?

A FOR ACHIEVABLE: Do I have the resources, time, or tools to pursue my goal?

R FOR RELEVANT: How important is this goal? Does it align with my personal goals?

T FOR TIMELY: What time have I set to achieve this goal? Is it short-term or long-term?

For example, your SMART goal should be: To submit one scholarship application per week during the school year.
