CONDUCTING A SCHOOL AND COURSE SEARCH
Studying
abroad provides a new perspective on global issues and relationships for
students across the world.
The
best place to search out for such abroad study information is on the internet;
however with the deluge of information, if one is not properly guided, you
would spend most of your time wandering online without getting the useful
information.

formula.
To set
the ground rolling, we start with the S which stands for Search.
Here are the details you need to look out for searching for a school:
1. Type of Schools: When it comes to making the choice of a school, they are only two choices─ Colleges and Universities. Colleges are institutions that offer post graduate and diploma courses while universities offer full blown undergraduates and post graduate courses. For instance, if you want to post graduate diploma in Engineering, a college is your best choice.
2. Type of program: These are programs that one can apply into. They are (i) Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Post Graduate diploma (ii) Graduate certificate program/Masters course- based/Masters research-based (iii) PhD research based. Please note that course-based Masters do not have major research component and so, are no readily funded while the Research based-Masters have a research based component, last 2-3 years and often come with scholarships.
3. Types of scholarship: We have the School level scholarships and Program level scholarships. You can find the School level scholarships on the school website as it is open to everyone and is competitive, however, Program level scholarship, also called Departmental scholarship are usually given by the department (you have to search for it to find it ) and are less competitive.
Departmental scholarship will often require you to secure a supervisor as the funding is linked Colleges offers School level scholarship and unfunded program while universities offer school level scholarships and funded programs.
How to find a school level scholarship:
Go to google, type school name, and slash (/) scholarship
For
instance, type Oxford University/scholarship
OR
How to
search for funded program level scholarship
Check into the school website, search out the course of your choice and then check for the departmental funding policy.
4. Funded or Unfunded: Funded programs included Masters Research-based, PhD Research-Based while Unfunded programs include Diploma, Advanced diploma, Post graduate diploma, Graduate certificate program, Masters course-based
