How to create an Action Plan to achieve your study Abroad goals.

In life, people seems to accomplish far more goals than others. That is because they use a systematic proven method of goal setting and goal attainment.

Studying abroad is one of those goals that requires a systematic action plan. Your problem is to bridge the gap between where you are now and the goals you intend to reach.

To accomplish this, you need an effective action plan. The first thing to consider when creating an action plan for your study abroad goals is:

1. Decide exactly what you want.

Clarity is the most important single quality of setting an action and success. Instead of a falsie goals, be specific of what you want. When you decide to study abroad, the first set of decision to make is to decide when you want to start, which country(s) you want to study, the program you want to go for. Be specific about this. This will immediately set you in a separate category from other students, because most people have no idea what they really want. Some are unconsciously pre-occupied by the fear of failure which has blocked them from setting an action plan.

2. Write your plans down on papers.

Research have shown that only 3% of adults write them their goals in a sheet of paper, and everyone else plans to write them down someday. When you must have decided on which country to study, when you want to start your study, the type of program to go for, please write them down on a paper.

When you actually write a goal down, it's as if you're programming it into your subconscious mind and activating a whole series of mental powers that will enable you to accomplish much more than you have ever dreamed of.

You began to expect to achieve the goals and you attract people and circumstances into your life that are consistently the attainment of your goal.

3. Set a deadline.

If it is a large goal, set series of deadlines for each action plan mapped out. Now don't get it twisted, setting a deadline does not mean you must achieve the goals within this time frame. It simply spur you to action. So when you could not achieve a particular set goal before a deadline, set another deadline.

Remember, a deadline acts like a forcing system on your subconscious mind towards achieving your goals on schedule. You need to have a time target in mind before you set off.

Set deadlines for your Study Abroad goals, say, in the next two weeks, I'll write an email to three supervisors from three different schools I've selected. Make sure you work towards this deadline.

With this, you've already given yourself a two weeks deadline to write to three supervisors.

4. Make a list of everything you could think of that will help you achieve your goal.

These things are the little things that matters. Identify the obstacles that you'll have to overcome. Identify the knowledge, information and skills that you'll need to achieve your goals. Identify the people whose help and cooperation you require to attain success. The more comprehensive your list is, the more motivated you would become. The more intense will be your desire.

Combine all these things into a plan in order of priority and sequence. List every single step you can think of, that you have to follow.
