French is not compulsory

Many of the courses in France are offered in the English Language. Nevertheless, knowledge of the French language, though not mandatory, can be of use to you when in France. For African francophone countries like, Cameroon, Togo, Côte d'Ivoire, etc, France is a good destination for study because of language advantage.

Work while you learn.

International students can work while they are enrolled in a course of study, provided they meet certain conditions. An international student can only work part-time. Also, an international student must have a valid residency permit to be able to work while studying in France. Do keep in mind that your educational institution must be approved by the French social security system.

Stay back after studies and look for a job.

After the completion of your higher studies in France and on obtaining a degree, you can request for an Autorisation Provisioire de Séjour (APS). This is a temporary resident permit that will allow you to stay back in France for up to 1 year.

With the APS, you can stay on in France for a year while you look for a job (with no restrictions); or utilize the time for making preparations for setting up a company in France (in a field related to your training).

With the government subsidizing a significant portion of the costs, the tuition fees in the public higher education institutions in France is quite low when compared to certain other countries. And there are several scholarship opportunities available for International Students.
