NSW Government’s
has set a pilot plan to start returning international students to New South
Wales. Many campuses in Australia have put in place plans to accommodate their
foreign students this December. The pilot plan is a joint undertaking between
the NSW Government, Study NSW and all NSW universities and aims to see 500
fully vaccinated international students return in December 2021 (a total of 250
seats per fortnight for combined universities).
Given the
limited number of returning students, NSW universities have agreed to a
quota-sharing system (based on 2019 enrolments). Only a small number of UTS
students will be eligible to return in the initial phase, but please be assured
that we will continue to provide remote and online learning options for our
students overseas for as long as is required.
While the trial
will initially only bring a small number of students back to Australia, it is
an important milestone that will lay the foundation for the return of more
international students in the future. The NSW Government will continue to work
with education providers and the wider sector to deliver a successful
International Student Arrivals Pilot Plan so that more international students
who remain abroad can get back to NSW as soon as possible.
