Erasmus Scheme vs UK Turing Scheme. What you need to know.
The Erasmus scheme is

UK, this has now been replaced by the Turing Scheme. This article covers what
the scheme is all about and who is eligible.

Let's get to the main deal.
What is the Turing Scheme?
In simple terms, the Turing
Scheme is the UK's global program for studying, working, and living abroad,
offering once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for personal and professional
development for international students. The Scheme provides funding
for international opportunities in education and training across the world.
The Turing Scheme was launched to replace the Erasmus+ program, which the UK is no longer participating in having left the EU. The new scheme will provide funding for more than 41,000 students in study and work placements across the world during the 2021-22 academic year. Funding for the scheme is now confirmed for the next three years 2024-25.
How does it work?
Schools, colleges, and
universities across the UK can apply for government funding. If successful,
they are then able to provide their students with funding to support study and
work placements abroad.
What about geographical scope?
The mechanics of the Turing
scheme are different from Erasmus+ as it funds UK students through UK
institutions to undertake placements overseas. It does not have an exchange
program structure and is not focused on Europe, it is rather focused on
global exchange programs.
Who is eligible for UK Turing Scheme?
The Turing Scheme is open to students of all nationalities for funding for both study and work placements. The placement must last for a minimum of 4 weeks and can last up to 12 months. The Turing scheme came into force in the year 2020 and aims to provide UK and International students with opportunities across the top and best universities in the world.
I hope you make good use of
this information and prepare to apply for the scheme in the coming academic
session.
