There are many scholarships out there specifically for disabled students! Whether your disability is physical, mental, or a learning disability, opportunities are waiting for you.

Check out this list to find vetted scholarship opportunities for disabled students. The list also includes scholarships for specific inflammatory diseases and cancer. Some of these scholarships for disabled students require documentation, so give yourself ample time to complete the applications!

1. American Council of the Blinds (ACB) Scholarship Program

This scholarship is designed for legally blind full-time undergraduate or graduate students. ACB Scholarship Program is dedicated to helping legally blind students pay off the costs of school and adaptive technology, this program awards between $2,000 and $7,500 to multiple lucky students each year. Better yet, there's no essay required to apply! Instead, you simply need to submit proof of blindness, a transcript, two letters of recommendation, and proof of enrollment.

2. American Foundation for the Blind | Disability Scholarships

The American Foundation for the Blind offers a disability grant in collaboration with the American Council of the Blind. The two organizations teamed up to establish a scholarship for students with disabilities starting college as freshmen or higher. The disabilities scholarship is intended to help with the expenses of post-secondary schoolings, such as room and board, general fees, and tuition.

3. Joseph James Morelli Legacy Foundation Scholarship

The Joseph James Morelli Legacy Foundation Scholarship is open to high school seniors and graduates with dyslexia or similar reading/language-based disabilities who will be pursuing a STEM degree at any accredited institution in the upcoming Fall. The scholarship is offered by the Joseph James Morelli Legacy Foundation, a charitable organization whose mission is to honor Joseph's spirit by recognizing students, who like Joseph struggle with dyslexia, to empower them to believe in themselves.

4. ALA Century Scholarship

Are you a library school student with a learning disability who wants to become a library or information studies professional? If so, consider applying for the ALA Century Scholarship! The ALA Century Scholarship is open to library school students with disabilities to pursue graduate degrees in Library Science. The scholarship is funded by the American Library Association, a nonprofit organization based in the United States that promotes libraries and library education internationally.

5. AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability

This scholarship is awarded annually to deserving students with a disability who are pursuing undergraduate/graduate studies (undergraduate freshmen not eligible). Eligible majors may include public health, health promotion, disability studies, disability research, rehabilitation engineering, audiology, disability policy, special education, and others that will impact the quality of life of persons with disabilities. The scholarship is funded by the American Association on Health &Disability, an organization dedicated to ensuring health equity and inclusion for persons with disabilities through policy, research, and dissemination.

6. American Speech Language Hearing Foundation

The American Speech Language Hearing Foundations disability scholarship is only for college students and is meant to be awarded to a recipient who has completed the Student With a Disability Scholarship pathway. Learners must be full-time students earning a Masters or doctorate. Candidates for the fellowship are invited to apply to both the research and therapeutic programs.
